The app is a life-saving initiative by SCDF. MyResponder app is compatible with iPhone and iPad. It is a free app, available on both iOS and Android. SCDF developed the app in collaboration with Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). The main aim of the app is to increase the out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survival rate. The app alerts SCDF volunteers to nearby cardiac arrest cases. The volunteers can immediately take up the case, and render first aid while waiting for the ambulance. The SCDF’s 995 Ops Center works in tandem with the app. They are the ones who call the volunteers. They may also ask the volunteers to guide the ambulance to the incident site.
Hundreds of people suffer from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest every year. The survival rate is only 3%. With the MyResponder app, SCDF is hoping to increase the survival rate.
